Restoring a 1983 Maserati Biturbo – A Challenge Turned into Success

In the summer of 2019, the Service Auto Life team took on an ambitious project: the full restoration of a rare gem — a 1983 Maserati Biturbo 2.0 carburetor.

The vehicle was purchased as a restoration project, in a severely degraded state. The engine wouldn’t start and the entire mechanical system required extensive work.

We began by dismantling and assessing the engine in order to identify the necessary parts. Sourcing them was no easy task, but we managed to receive support from a Maserati representative in Geneva, Switzerland, who helped us secure original replacement components. By the end of 2019, all the essential parts had arrived in the country.

In 2020, despite global challenges, we used the quiet weeks during lockdown to speed up the restoration process. We carefully prepared and installed the parts, and in April we proudly heard the engine start for the first time — fully reconditioned.

Toward the end of the same year, the car was completely reassembled and refinished: fresh paint, detailed and restored interior, new headliner, repainted dashboard, and replaced glass elements.

Today, the Maserati is fully functional and officially certified as a historic vehicle.
It has found a new home with a passionate collector who maintains it with the attention and care it deserves.

We are proud to have brought this unique car back to life. Alongside many other exciting projects, this restoration stands as a testament to the dedication, skill, and passion of our team — beyond the standard services we offer in the automotive field.
Below, we’ve included a series of images showing the car in its original condition (at the time of purchase), along with photos taken during the restoration process. Finally, you can see the end result — a fully restored vehicle, brought back to its former glory.
Stay tuned — we’ll be back with more useful articles and behind-the-scenes stories from Service Auto Life!
